Privacy Policy

Account information. If you register with email and password, we collect your email address; your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text. If you continue with your Alite account, we receive a verified identity from Alite’s single sign-on rather than a password.

Financial data you enter. The accounts, transactions, transfers, budgets, goals, recurring items, categories and currencies you record. This is the content the Service exists to keep, and it belongs to you.

Preferences. Small settings that shape your view — such as your display currency, whether amounts are hidden (privacy mode), your enabled currencies and interface state like the collapsed sidebar.

Basic technical data. Logs and device information needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot the Service.

We use your information to provide the Service: to compute your net worth, income, expenses, savings rate and budgets, to convert between currencies, to keep your account secure, and to respond to support requests you send us. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.

We rely on a small number of providers to run Alite, and share with them only what is needed to operate the Service on our behalf:

Supabase provides our database, hosting and authentication — this is where your account and financial data are stored and where sign-in is verified.

Alite single sign-on (Alite Admin) verifies your identity when you choose to continue with your Alite account.

A third-party exchange-rate provider supplies currency rates. We request rates by currency code only; your financial data is never sent to it.

Google Analytics measures how the Service is used — which pages are visited, from what kind of device, and how often. It receives page addresses and basic technical data, never your accounts, transactions, balances or any amount you record.

Alite uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. It is essential to the Service and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell repeat visits apart and measure usage. They are not used for advertising, and you can refuse them with your browser’s cookie controls or a tracker blocker — the Service works normally without them.

Some preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device — for example your display currency, privacy mode, recently used currencies and whether the sidebar is collapsed. You can clear these at any time through your browser.

Your data is stored using industry-standard infrastructure with access controls, encrypted connections, and passwords held only as secure hashes. We take reasonable measures to protect it, though no method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure.

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with the service providers described above, strictly to run Alite, or where we are required to by law.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can edit or delete individual records inside the app at any time, and export your ledger to a CSV file. To delete your account and personal data, contact us at cs.alitecompany@gmail.com; we will remove it except where we are required to retain something by law.

You can view, edit, export and delete the financial data you enter, change your display and privacy preferences, and request account deletion. If you have any question about your data, reach out and we will help.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
